In an interesting article reported in The Guardian Technology blog, regular contributors Bobbie and Danny Bradbury discuss flaws discovered in the online voting systems being tested by a number of local authorities for tomorrow's local and regional elections.
"There's a great deal more behind this than we can safely detail here", report the pair, "but suffice to say that we have been sent links detailing precise weaknesses and methods that might be used to crack, hack and otherwise alter what's recorded by the online systems. Systems, let's remind ourselves, that might count in narrow contests tomorrow. At the least, it would give a losing candidate something to argue in court."
The article goes on to discuss other recent features on the subject of on-line voting and security (or the lack of it).
