Surrey Police have sent uniformed patrols into county polling stations after a former Conservative councillor was jailed for four months for forging ballot papers in Guildford. Yesterday Peterborough, Lewisham and Brentwood councils piloted a scheme to ask voters at polling stations to sign for their ballot paper, but none of them compared signatures with anything else signed by the voter.
