Arrests At Polling Station
According to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, the arrests of three men marred the local elections in Peterborough last Thursday. Police said the three were arrested at the Central Ward polling station in Sargent Street at 9.25pm on Thursday night on suspicion of handling stolen goods, believed to be polling cards. A police spokesman said: "I cannot go into specifics about the nature of the offences at this time. Election offences cover a large area, including everything from intimidating voters to vote rigging. "All I can say at this time is that officers are stationed at all polling stations to assist officers and the presiding polling officer became suspicious of these three men and called on our assistance. "The three men were arrested and our currently being interviewed."
