Brick Lane's Vote Riggers And Financial "Thugs"

Above the Preem curry house and travel agent's office at 118 Brick Lane is a small upper floor flat with twelve registered Bangladeshi voters. They all appeared on the electoral roll this year and, according to locals, they certainly don’t live there. Down the road Rana Miah, a member of the management committee of the Brick Lane Youth Development Association, claims Labour councillors have threatened his colleagues that if they don't vote Labour, their funding is at risk. The Green Party supporter says: "This is not politics, this is blatant thuggery. I am sickened." Meanwhile, neighbouring Hackney tops the league table of postal vote increases, with the council having issued 37,285 postal votes for its two constituencies — up 4,000%.
