The Conservatives may lose a Coventry council seat won from Labour in the May local elections, following allegations of vote rigging. Police are investigating complaints that a number of votes cast in polling stations in the Foleshill district of Coventry belonged to people who were abroad on May 4, which was election day. The capture of the seat by the Tories helped them to secure a two-seat majority on Coventry council, giving them control of the local authority for the first time since the 1970s.
