Tory MP's Election Fraud Claims Dismissed

Officers from West Mercia Constabulary have dismissed claims in anonymous letters passed on by Shrewsbury's Conservative MP Daniel Kawczynski alleging postal vote fraud against Labour activists working in the local sorting office. Clearly there are nutters about and one may be involved in these accusations. But as you read the evidence in this case, the words "smoke" and "fire" somehow keep rining in your ears.

Most of what people think is material evidence of a criminal offence is in fact either hearsay evidence (asserted, but without any proof) or circumstantial evidence (suggests guilt but does not prove it). Before you blow your whistle, please understand just how much hearsay and circumstantial evidence there is out there. Indeed, that is exactly why this website was established in the first place. I have met several people who swear blind that they have met people who were present at the houses of certain senior Hackney politicians when "farmed" voting forms have been completed prior to posting. I have met others who claim to know exactly what sexual peccadilloes have been used to ensure the silence of Hackney Councillors who have been involved in election fraud. I've got a mountain of this stuff and so have the police. All of it is totally useless allegation and nobody is interested!

Prosecution will only take place if and when evidence of criminality is produced, sufficiently strong to convince the DPP that successful prosecution can be achieved. In other words, don'€t waste your time blowing the whistle unless you are prepared to stand up in court as an incontrovertible witness. If you have such evidence, please get in contact. Understand that sooner or later you will have to speak to the police. I can offer help and advice, but at the end of the day I cannot withhold material evidence as this is a criminal offence.

If election fraudsters are not stopped, they will go on and on committing the same crime. The problem won't simply go away on its own. If it exists in Hackney, help to stamp it out by coming forward.

A note for anyone who has been personally involved. The last two people to be successfully prosecuted for election fraud in Hackney were sent to prison for six months and four months respectively. But this offence is not murder. If you blow the whistle, the odds are overwhelming that you will not serve any custodial sentence. I can't give the same reassurance if you leave it too late and someone else shops you.
