The leader of a Scottish local authority has quit after months of turmoil and wrangling in the Labour Party, as reported here a month ago.
Councillor Andy White, who has been in charge of West Dunbartonshire Council for nine years, resigned at a meeting of the Labour Group on Monday night.
The resignation comes in the wake of a report by Audit Scotland, which found evidence of irregularities. The Scottish Labour Party has also come down hard on the group's activities, after an investigation found evidence of bullying and vote-rigging.
