Two former Burnley LibDem councillors jailed for 18 months each for election fraud could be released - after being fitted with electronic tags - just weeks before local elections are due to be held next May.
Mozaquir Ali and Manzur Hussain are serving their sentences at Kirkham Prison but are expected to be released after having served less than five months of their sentences.
The disgraced pair, who represented Daneshouse with Stoneyholme, were found guilty of submitting false proxy vote forms to Burnley Borough Council during the June 2004 local elections.
