Vote-Rigging Councillors Jailed For 18 Months
Burnley councillors Mozaquir Ali and Manzur Hussain have both been jailed for 18 months for their part in an election fraud in which they falsified proxy vote applications in the June 2004 local elections, Burnley's first attempt at an all-postal vote. The pair have been thrown out of the Liberal Democrats and been removed from office on Burnley Borough Council.
