Tougher Safeguards Against Election Fraud On The Way

Labour will be forced to provide safeguards to stop the electoral fraud that has disfigured local elections, according to Patrick Wintour and Martin Wainwright of The Guardian newspaper. The government has been resisting the advice of the Electoral Commission to bring in individual voter registration, a reform already introduced in Northern Ireland. But the local elections have been marked by a growing number of allegations of voter fraud, especially in the use of postal votes, with alleged offences in Tower Hamlets, Birmingham, Woking and Bradford.
